Day #2

I woke up this morning and Ally was so excited for me to make shakes.  She wanted to help me which I totally let her.

Since I ordered the shake mix there have been several shakes I have been eager to try.  Today we made one of them =)

Almond Joy (which TOTALLY tastes like an Almond Joys) it was seriously SO good.

1 cup of almond milk
6 ice cubes
2 scoops of Visalus powder
1/2 tsp of coconut
1 tbs of coco

Riley did not want a shake so we made her oatmeal and we added 1 scoop of the shake mix and instead of milk we did almond milk in her oatmeal and she practically licked the bowl clean =).

Ally wanted a Peanut Butter Chocolate shake

1 cup of almond milk
8 ice cubes
1 scoop of Visalus powder
1 tbs of coco

She absolutely LOVED it.

After our shakes we decided to take advantage of having a slow Saturday to ourselves. We went out for a trail walk we did 4 miles and it felt GREAT to get out and walk. The shakes give me a lot of energy and we actually found ourselves running quite a bit during our trail walk, which is funny because David and I are not really the "running" type.

Around noon I made shakes for lunch. I made the orange dream which honestly I wasn't crazy about it. I made it two different ways

1 cup of almond milk

1 packet of orange flavoring
6 ice cubes

It was supposed to taste like an orange dream which I guess it sort of did but I am not a big orange person so it was definitely not my favorite.

David did the same thing only he had 1 cup of orange juice instead of almond milk. He said it was ok. (aka- not his favorite)

I have my first party on Thursday and I am so excited. My Pastor's wife and I are working the party together and she has been such a wonderful resource for me.

I have gone through a bunch of recipes and getting everything organized. You know me I am crafty so I have to come up with a cute way to display everything =).

David and I were talking about how many people don't eat breakfast because they don't have the time or don't want to eat breakfast really early before work. ---- With the Visalus shakes it literally only takes minutes to put your ingredients together, blend and go.

I went through and made a list of some of the things that I have had for breakfast recently.

Egg McMuffins from McDonalds -310 calories
Sausage Biscuit - 400 calories
Cherry Pop Tarts - 200 calories per pastry (package contains 2) That's 400 calories
Cinnamon Toast Crunch- 260 calories (cup of milk and 1 serving size of cereal)
Chocolate Iced Donut - 340 calories
Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit - 420 calories

Although there is nothing wrong with any of those choices if those are things you eat as well, I just started to think about how they don't always leave you feeling full and content. And there really aren't a whole lot of nutrients in them. The Almond Joy shake I made tasted great, it had 184 calories, gave me energy and I felt full and content after drinking it for a long time.

I know that there are people that are able to lose the weight without having to drink shakes. I commend you. I think it's great. For me having the ability to make a shake and it takes me less than 5 minutes and I can take it with me and drink on my way or drink at work totally works for me. David and I both have full time jobs; we are on staff at church and run our Christian Education Department. We have kids that are always going and doing things with school, sports or friends. Let's face it is no wonder we either didn't eat or made horrible food choices.

I set my goal for week #1 at 5 pounds and David 10 pounds. We will do daily weigh-ins just because we like to keep an eye on things but we will an officially weigh in on Thursdays and will post results.

Oh and in case you wanted to know what we ate for dinner

1pound of ground chicken
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
shredded carrots
can of black beans

Cook together with salt, pepper and any other seasoning you like.  I made 4 flour tortillas put one on each plate and put the ground chicken mix on top and sprinkled a little cheese
350/serving and it was really good and very filling =)

Day #2--- Success!! It's funny because I have been looking up recipes and trying to figure out what shakes to make next.

Tomorrow--- We will start the day with a Butterfinger Shake =) It will be the first time on a Sunday that we will actually have something for breakfast without having to go to Wendy's to get something on our way or skip breakfast all together.

Day [1]

Yesterday I got home and I was like a kid on Christmas Day.... Did my package arrive??? YES!!! It did... (side note- I must warn you I am NOT a writer- I have always said, I type like I talk.  So when you are reading this you can probably hear my voice as if I was talking to you =D) I opened the package and went through everything.  I was super excited and couldn't wait to start the challenge.  I weighed myself, (not quite ready to give the details on that just yet =D) I measured myself and I went through some of the online tutorials.

I woke up this morning so eager to make shakes.  David and I are doing this together.  We are both ready to lose weight and live a healthier life style.  Not just for us but for our kids.  Ally (almost 8) and Riley (almost 7) are my reasons for getting fit and getting healthy.

This morning I made 3 shakes...

David - Peanut Butter & Jelly Shake
1 cup of almond milk
2 scoops of shake
1 cup of frozen berries
1 tbsp of Peanut Butter
 6 ice cubes

The girls - Strawberry Banana Shake
1 cup of almond milk
1/2 scoop of shake mix
1 cup of frozen strawberries and bananas
6 ice cubes

Me- Peanut Butter Cup Shake
1 cup of almond milk
2 scoops of shake mix
1 tbsp of peanut butter
1 packet of chocolate ViSalus Shake mix *you could also use coco mix*

All three of them were Delish!!! Seriously!!! I was STOKED!!! I took mine with me to work.  I added a few extra ice cubes to make sure it stayed cold.

I drank my shake at 9am - normally I eat breakfast around 8/9ish and by 10:30 I am snacking... I want to eat something.  Most of the time because I am sitting at my desk and I just want to eat just to eat.  Today was totally different.  I NEVER craved anything.  I wasn't hungry.  At noon my company had a potluck and I just didn't have much of an appetite at all. I went because I knew it was lunch time and I needed to eat something.  I tried several things but I honestly kept portion control in mind.  I didn't even eat everything off my plate I was full and fine with that.  When I got off of work I came home and made our second round of shakes

This evening I made 2 shakes
David- Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana
1 cup of almond milk
2 scoops of shake
1 tbsp of peanut butter
1 packet of chocolate ViSalus Shake mix *you could also use coco mix*
1 full banana
6 ice cubes

Me- Chocolate Strawberry
1 cup of almond milk
2 scoops of shake
1 packet of chocolate ViSalus Shake mix *you could also use coco mix*
6 ice cubes
1 cup of frozen strawberries

OMG!!! I seriously think I found my favorite shake!!! It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO good.  I am a HUGE chocolate covered strawberry person so I was one happy camper.  I made dinner while I drank my shake.  We had grilled chicken strips, grilled asparagus and grilled carrots.  I really wasn't able to finish my plate because I honestly felt so full.

Day #1 I have to say was a huge success... looking up recipes for tomorrow.  Seriously there are SO many to choose from.  Butterfinger--- almond joy--- maybe chocolate covered strawberry again =))

I am going to post pictures of my success.... This is me at the very beginning of this year.

Good night friends! Until tomorrow.

Decisions... Decisions...

I went back and forth for a few weeks.  Wasn't sure what I really wanted to do but I made a decision to not only take the 90 day Body by Vi challenge but to also promote and sell shakes.  I am super excited about this decision and I am excited to see where it will take me and my family.

It's funny when you make the decision to join the challenge you get so many different reactions from people.  There are the friends who are super supportive and want to see if it works for you, the friends that want to join the challenge with you and want to know more about it and the friends who are annoyed at all of the people who are joining the challenge and want to hear nothing about it.

I decided to share this experience with everyone but instead of blowing up your Facebook with constant results and information I have created a blog that would allow you to follow my success if you want to.  I will be posting a blog daily with updates on how I am doing, recipes of things I try and love and information regarding the 90 challenge.

If you want to join the 90 challenge with me click (here).  What do you have to lose but the weight. There is a 30 day money back guarentee and it's affordable.
